Once upon a time, as snowflakes gently carpeted the world in white, there was a bustling kitchen where magic was about to unfold. A special Christmas Bento box was being prepared for a little one eagerly awaiting a festive surprise.
In this cosy kitchen, scents of spices and the warmth of love filled the air. On the counter lay an array of vibrant ingredients, ready to transform into a culinary Christmas tale.
Chapter 1: The Christmas Tree, the first character in our story, was a splendid Christmas tree, not of pine, but of delicious spinach idli. This tree was not ordinary; it was soft, fluffy, and had the deep green of a winter forest. Carefully crafted, these idli trees were placed in the Bento box, ready to be munched on.
Chapter 2: The Snowman of Semolina, a charming snowman made of savoury semolina, comes to life. With the eyes of black pepper and a carrot hat, he was a sight of joy. This little snowman wasn’t cold but warm and inviting, bringing a smile to the little one's face.
Chapter 3: Ornaments Our idli tree needed decorations. Cherry tomatoes, bright and shiny, became baubles. These edible ornaments were a delight to the eyes and a treasure trove of tangy-sweet flavours.
Chapter 4: The Snow of Coconut Chutney No Christmas scene was complete without snow. And so, a small container of coconut chutney represented the snowy wonderland. It was perfect for dipping the idli trees and the semolina snowman, adding a creamy, flavorful touch to each bite. To add to the attraction, I added a small tomato peel rose.
As the Bento box closed, it encapsulated more than just food; it held a story, a piece of art, and a mother’s love. When the little one opened it, their eyes sparkled with the magic of Christmas. Each bite was a journey through a festive story, making not just a meal but memories to last a lifetime.
And so, the Christmas toddler Bento box became a yearly tradition, eagerly awaited and lovingly created. It was a reminder that sometimes, the simplest things, like a meal, can be turned into beautiful tales.
Chapter 5: The Christmas Tree Tale, no tiffin is complete without a tale here. About the Christmas trees, as Christianity spread across Europe, many pagan customs were either incorporated into Christian practices or replaced. The use of evergreen trees during winter celebrations was one of these adopted customs. Christians began to use these trees as a symbol of everlasting life with Christ. By the 16th century, devout Christians in Germany began to bring decorated trees into their homes.
